Organization of the faculty at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City opposed changing the academic calendar to start in August which already happened on some UP campuses.
There's No Valid Reason to Change Academic Months!
In a statement, the Congress of Teachers and Educators for Nationalism and Democracy (CONTEND) urged other UP professors to oppose the proposed changes to the academic "faculty referendum" from Feb. 24 to 26.
CONTEND said that the new academic calendar will continue despite of previous vote of the UP Diliman University Council against it. Also, without giving sufficient and convincing reasons changing academic month is not a good idea.
